Q & A

In the summer, my favourite activities are riding my bike around and throughout our beautiful river valley system and playing golf recreationally. Although I do not currently play soccer, I grew up playing competitively for many years and have coached on and off for many seasons. In the winter, I enjoy downhill skiing when I have time to get out to the mountains. It is important to me to also maintain my general physical fitness, so I workout three times per week in my home gym.

My range of sports and activities have taught me about the demands and stresses each activity puts on the body. It helps me understand my patients’ movements and activities and how to identify and treat muscle imbalances and weaknesses. Having been injured countless times from my sports and activities, I understand what my patients are going through and the importance of getting them back to normal as soon as possible.
The most rewarding part of my job is when my patients meet their physical activity or functional goals. Those goals can be as simple as walking the dog for 10 minutes or climbing the Matterhorn.
I have a special interest in treating knee injuries, from acute injuries to chronic issues. For many years, I worked closely with orthopaedic surgeons and specialty sports medicine physicians specializing in treating the knee, and I gained valuable experience and expertise from this.

I am also particularly interested in treating tendinopathy issues of the lower extremities, including gluteal, Achilles, peroneal, and patellar tendinopathy.
One of the best ways to expand skills and knowledge is to work closely with other physiotherapists. I enjoy discussing cases of my own or other therapists and sharing our expertise and clinical reasoning.

After graduating, I took many courses and completed my intermediate exam in the orthopedic division of physiotherapy. Reading articles and following specific and highly reputable sources on social media also provides some clinically applicable information to my practice.
