About Danielle Bles

Danielle Bles actively participates in a variety of sports and physical activities such as hockey, beach volleyball, slow-pitch, spinning, hiking, and yoga, which have significantly influenced her approach to her physiotherapy practice. Having experienced injuries herself and requiring physiotherapy for rehabilitation, she emphasizes the importance of providing patients with clear timelines, effective communication, and safe rehabilitation strategies.

With a strong focus on shoulder injuries, particularly thrower’s shoulder, Danielle has established collaborations with orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine physicians to treat a diverse range of shoulder issues. Prioritizing continuing education, she engages in courses covering manual therapy, dry needling, and diagnostic imaging to expand her skills and knowledge, recognizing the necessity of staying updated in the constantly evolving field of physiotherapy.

Q & A

I play hockey, beach volleyball and slow-pitch. I also spin, hike and do yoga. Growing up, I played competitive hockey and fastball. I have always been very active and have needed physiotherapy multiple times through the years for various injuries. This has helped me relate to active patients with injuries and the importance of giving timelines, good communication and pushing patients as much as is safe for their current injury.
Helping people resolve their pain and meet their goals is very rewarding. Many people have had to take time away from their sports/activities due to injury, and I love helping them return. Some are just having trouble with the routine activities of daily living or sleep and are very appreciative when they can return to even these simple things. I often work with challenging shoulder cases, and I find these always keep me striving to learn more so that I can be of the best help.
I enjoy treating all injuries but work with a lot with shoulder cases. I have worked with Edmonton’s shoulder orthopedic surgeons for ten years as well as sports medicine physicians and have seen a variety of shoulder injuries (both post-operative and not). I especially enjoy treating patients with thrower’s shoulder.
I have taken many continuing education courses in manual therapy, dry needling, and diagnostic imaging. I believe these are essential in our field of work since there is not enough time during the master’s program to cover all the skills needed to excel as a physiotherapist. The literature is constantly changing, and staying up to date is crucial.
